When I first walked into family court, I was pretty naive about how any of it worked. I thought if something was wrong, you documented it. You told the truth. You followed the rules. And eventually, someone would look at the facts and do the right thing.

I’m a mom, a writer, and an advocate.
My story started on March 14, 2020. We landed home in Boston from a family vacation just as the world was shutting down. That afternoon, buried in a pile of mail, I discovered a secret bank account — and that 100% of our marital assets had been moved.
My marriage ended. Suddenly, I was trying to build stability for two very young children whose entire world had changed overnight.
I believed family court existed to protect that stability. I believed that if I followed the rules, listened to professionals and did what I was told, the system would ultimately protect my children.
In December 2023, after my children made additional disclosures, I followed the advice of professionals and law enforcement. A detective told me he believed my children were being abused and instructed me to seek a restraining order.
I told him I was afraid I would get in trouble for doing exactly that.
Within weeks, I went from being the mother who dropped her children off at school expecting to pick them up that afternoon to losing physical and legal custody without an evidentiary hearing. Two critical hearings were sealed. I needed to understand how any of it had happened.
So I started reading. The rules. The research. The transcripts. The records.
And that's where Fight Like a Mother really begins.

Fight Like a Mother was born from my experience, but it isn't a about my case. I became determined to build what I desperately needed when this started: a place where mothers can find the research, rules, records, reporting, and resources that took me years to piece together.
Today, that work includes public education, investigative writing, family-court research, legislative advocacy and accountability work. I've testified at the Massachusetts State House, participated in public advocacy around family-court reform and judicial accountability, and continue documenting the systems and decisions that are harming mothers and children.
Somewhere along the way, this became bigger than us.
Because every time another mother tells me, “This is happening to me too,” I am reminded why Fight Like a Mother needs to exist.
For my kids. For yours. And for every family that deserves better.
